Showcasing heritage and historical sites, the 2hr bus tour is available on the second Sunday of each month, commencing March through to November. The tour departs Cooneana Heritage Centre at approximately 10:00am and after the tour there will be time to explore the buildings and grounds of the Centre. The driver stops at a number of historical sites on the tour. See a disused coal mine and many forgotten places around the historic Blackstone area, while enjoying commentary by Hugh Taylor, President of the Ipswich Historical Society. The bus, used in Ipswich in the 1960s, can take 30 passengers. Comfort is that of the time - no aircon but the windows open! Visit Blackstone Hill, the site of 'The Coal King' Lewis Thomas's "Castle" - Brynhyfryd. The tour will take you to the United Welsh Church, sometimes with the chance to enter, and there is much more for you to enjoy. The Centre is open from 10:00am-2:00pm on these Sundays. Please note minimum numbers (10) are required for the bus tour. Visitors are required to observe all COVID-19 requirements including signage and directions including directions from volunteers. Please do not attend if you have symptoms of the virus or have been in contact with anyone who has symptoms prior to attending. Thank you for your consideration and for protecting our volunteer crew. Entry Cost Adult $10 - This price includes entry to Cooneana Heritage Centre and allows ticket holders to explore the Heritage Centre's grounds after the Bus tour. The Centre opens at 10am and closes at 2pm. Child $5 - Infants and children not occupying a seat are free.
