About

Charlie's artworks entwine the unbounded connection between nature, selfhood, kinship, and community. A lifetime artist and creative, he was guided at a young age by his father and fellow artist, Gee (Gerald) Ryan, who introduced him to a variety of traditional painting styles, along with a distinct appreciation and love of colour. Charlie later studied at the renowned Brighton Bay Art, Design and Photography Program in Melbourne and the Arts Academy at the University of Ballarat. Predominantly portraying formed natural abstracts, the artist has a partiality towards sharing beautifully intimate stories through the metaphors of long grass and the harvest of the seasons. This new exhibition is Charlie Ryan's first in South Australia, where his Father (and fellow artist) was born, and follows the successful inaugural SALA exhibition by Nicole Eliza. Nicole’s work has graced our walls since the 2023 SALA exhibition, with an amazing 14 pieces sold to local and interstate buyers.? Before this, we were pleased to exhibit Victorian artist Stella Grieg & artwork by the children of Indulkana Anangu School, and their fundraising efforts for an unforgettable school camp in Adelaide. We pay our respects to the Ngadjuri, Peramangk, and Kaurna people, the traditional owners of the Barossa region, where we gather, converse, and share.? Artisans of Barossa is proud to support the art community?.
