Ballarat Apron Festival

Stitching together a love of crafting, baking, gardening and nostalgia, the Ballarat Apron Festival celebrates all things apron. The uniqueness of the Festival has attracted international interest and is a wonderful asset to the Ballarat community. The last 12 months have seen us navigate a very different, challenging world. Some of us slowed down, some of us became busier, some of us found we were able to connect and reconnect with the simple pleasures of life. Baking, growing food and flowers, woodworking, picking up that craft project we have been getting to. Everyone spent their time differently, living it alone, but with a strange, distant togetherness, that united the community. As we turned to these simpler pleasures many of us dusted off a humble apron, protector of clothes, holder of tools, wiper of hands. There is something empowering about putting on an apron; you're ready for the job, whatever it may be, and you get it done. So much of how people coped this year is tied together with the strings of an apron and hope that visitors to the Festival will be able to share the connection to their simple pleasures on a community level.
