Cabernet and Chardonnay aficionados are invited to compare the Bordelaise roots of Goelet’s wine merchant family, alongside the terroir of their Pyrenees and Napa Valley vineyards, with the great vineyards of Bordeaux at the Taltarni’s Benchmark Dinner. Guided by Taltarni Vineyards Chief Winemaker Robert Heywood and CEO Adam Torpy, guests will explore and compare Cabernets and Chardonnays grown on Taltarni’s Pyrenees vineyards with wines from Bordeaux (100- point first growth Château Mouton-Rothschild RRP: $1500), Burgundy (Château de Fuissé, 92 points), and Goelet’s winery in the Napa Valley (Clos du Val). Presented in Alla Wolf-Tasker’s iconic, two-hatted (Good Food Guide) Lakehouse Restaurant, each bracket will be expertly matched to a menu of local produce sourced from Tasker’s nearby Dairy Flat Farm. The evening will commence with a selection of canapes, followed by a four-course tasting menu, and concludes with a cheese course paired with the most quintessential of Australian red wine blends, Taltarni’s ‘The Patron’ Cabernet Shiraz (96 points). Taltarni Vineyards was established in 1969. French vigneron John Goelet searched emerging wine regions around the world for a site comparable to the great vineyards of Bordeaux. He set down roots in Victoria’s Pyrenees in this perfect climatic band for cool climate, slow ripening viticulture. Entry Cost All tickets $692 - Limited to 36 guests. $692 per head for Taltarni Cellar Key Club Members. $865 per head for non-members. (Special Member price is available upon Wine Club sign up.)
