About

Each Anzac Day, the striking 21m high Mount Macedon Memorial Cross provides a spectacular, evocative setting for one of the largest dawn services in Victoria and will this year host a service with the theme ‘Honouring Every Role, Every Sacrifice’ to acknowledge the many different ways that Australians have, and continue to, serve and protect their country. The service commences at 6am and runs for approximately an hour. Free shuttle buses run from Tony Clarke Reserve in Macedon from 4.15am. Free bus services also run from townships across the Macedon Ranges and Sunbury including Gisborne, Woodend, Kyneton, Riddells Creek, Lancefield and Romsey. Access to the Memorial Cross will be closed to private vehicles. Bookings for town buses are essential. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring a water bottle and torch. A sausage sizzle, tea and coffee will be available. A gold coin donation would be appreciated. MMADDS thanks its sponsors: the Victorian Government through Victorian Veterans Council, Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Bendigo Community Bank Gisborne and Region, Public Transport Victoria, Gisborne Region Events Activities and Tourism and KGMG Creative. Thanks also goes to CFA, SES, Victoria Police, Parks Victoria, Woodend Scouts, the Victorian Emergency Management Institute and the Mount Macedon Memorial Cross Reserve Committee of Management.
